As part of our Keep Stowmarket Tidy initiative and in response to the recent survey we are launching litter picking hubs across Stowmarket to provide free litter picking equipment for volunteers to borrow.

Keep Stowmarket Tidy Week identified that litter has got worse in the local area since lockdown restrictions have begun to ease. During our recent Keep Stowmarket Tidy survey many people described the importance of local community action and how they would like to be able to regularly borrow equipment to undertake more litter picks.

Whether it has been our local streets, parks, woodland or countryside, recent months have highlighted how valuable our environment is to so many of us and why it needs to be kept that way. It is a shame these are needed, but the litter picking hubs will help tackle litter issues and ensure the areas we love can continue to look their best.

The first venues to become litter picking hubs in Stowmarket are; Milton House, Stowmarket Community Centre and Cedars Park Community Centre, with more following in the future.

Each hub will provide litter picking kits containing litter pickers, hi-vis waistcoats and MSDC refuse sacks.
