Mayor Keith Scarff was very saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Williams, one of Stowmarket’s best known local historians. He said, ‘Steve and Sue Williams were regular attendees at meetings, briefing the Council about the history of our town. In recognition of their work in this field they were awarded a Stowmarket Town Award at our last awards ceremony. Steve’s knowledge was an invaluable source, which he freely passed on to many groups and individuals with a passion, indeed many roads in our town were named after suggestions provided by Steve. Our thoughts and prayers go out from us all to Sue and the family at this time.’
