The Town Council, in partnership with the Stowmarket and District Royal British Legion and Stowmarket Parish Church, will be holding a full programme of events to commemorate Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.
Members of the public are warmly invited to attend.
Remembrance Sunday 9th November
• 9.00am – Parade sets off from Red Gables
• 9.05am – Salute next to the Memorial Clock
• 9.30am – Church service begins
• After the service – Parade forms up in the Market Square
• 10.40am – Parade marches to the Recreation Ground Memorial Area
• 10.55am – Act of Remembrance, Two-Minute Silence & Wreath Laying
• Following the service – Parade dismissed by the Parade Marshal
• 11.45am – Peace Pledge Union (White Poppy) Service
We look forward to seeing everyone as we come together to remember and honour all those who have served.
Please note that there have been some exceptional challenges in organising this year’s event.
The US government has cancelled US personnel’s support to local civic engagement events from all the US Visiting Forces (USVF) within the UK. Wattisham are also unable to attend due to operational duties and so we will be without our usual military presence at the event, this is beyond our control.
We fully recognise their priorities on the day and the Town Mayor, Town Council, Royal British Legion, and Parish Church will uphold the proud traditions of Remembrance in Stowmarket.
