Stowmarket Town Council are currently looking for a Communities Coordinator (Community Engagement and Communications) to join our team on a part time basis (18.5 hours per week). This is a unique and interesting role for someone with a good knowledge of the Stowmarket town.

As our Communities Coordinator (Community Engagement and Communications), you will be part of our Communities team and will be coordinating various activities, projects, events, environmental initiatives, and community engagements. You will be working with our team to engage with residents, businesses and visitors to communicate the Council’s plans and decisions as well as creating campaigns, executing social media posts, promoting local events and producing print productions. These will include seasonal brochures, working with local advertisers & press, planning distribution, and providing excellent customer service via all the Town Councils digital platforms. You will be ensuring all tasks such as creative copy writing, blog posts, press releases, digital content & the creation, and design of offline material such as posters, newsletters, magazines, and display boards are completed.

Other key duties will include:

  • To monitor and update our website content and social media channels.
  • To maintain positive relationships with local community groups, businesses, customers and residents.
  • To undertake business activities involving administration, customer enquiries and assisting with the provision of the Town Council’s Reception Service.

To be a successful candidate you will possess excellent, engaging creative writing and good IT skills. You will have knowledge of marketing, communication principles and project planning.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated with a flexible approach and the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously and prioritise work effectively.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting Stowmarket Town Council’s community engagement, public relations, and media profile. The role is part-time, 18.5 hours per week (3 days, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday). For the right candidate we are happy to discuss flexible working hours. There will be the occasional requirement to attend evening meetings and weekend events. In return, you will receive a salary of £20,092 pro rata, a supportive and stimulating working environment to develop and showcase your skills.
