Stowmarket Town Council is looking for a reliable and practical Cleaner & Keyholder to support the day-to-day operation of Stowmarket Community Centre and other Town Council-managed community facilities.

The role will help ensure our facilities are clean, safe, secure and ready for use by community groups, organisations and residents.

Job Title: Cleaner & Keyholder

Reports to: Community Facilities Manager

Hours: Part-time / Zero-hours

Key responsibilities

  • Opening and closing the Community Centre and other Town Council facilities.
  • Carrying out basic opening and closing safety checks.
  • Cleaning rooms, communal areas, kitchens and toilets to a high standard.
  • Restocking toilet and cleaning supplies and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Setting up and resetting rooms for bookings and events.
  • Providing basic on-site assistance to facility users.
  • Communicating important information and booking requirements to the Community Facilities Manager.
  • Reporting any hazards, incidents, defects or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Working across other Town Council-managed community facilities as required.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, punctual and flexible, with a positive attitude towards community-focused work. You should be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team and have good communication and customer service skills.

Experience in cleaning, caretaking, keyholding or similar practical work would be beneficial, as would an understanding of Health & Safety and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.

You will need to be available to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, and be willing to undertake relevant training.
