On Tuesday 31st March, more than 100 enthusiastic volunteers came together to help tidy the town of Stowmarket as part of the annual Team Up to Clean Up event. The initiative takes place during Keep Stowmarket Tidy Week, a campaign designed to inspire community pride and encourage residents to play an active role in keeping their town clean and welcoming.
Volunteers took part in a large-scale community clean-up across the Recreation Ground, nearby streets, and public spaces. The event brought together a wonderfully diverse group -from young children dressed as their favourite superheroes and characters to elderly residents and local families – all united with a shared purpose.
The clean-up was also strongly supported by local businesses, community organisations, the police and their cadets, and Town Councillors. Their involvement highlighted the widespread pride and dedication within the community to maintain Stowmarket as a vibrant and attractive place to live.
While the main objective was litter removal, the event doubled as a fun and educational experience for younger participants. It offered an engaging way to learn about the importance of caring for the environment and the positive impact small actions can have on the wider community.
