Stowmarket has once again demonstrated its pride and passion for the local environment with the successful delivery of this year’s Keep Stowmarket Tidy Week.
Held from Monday 30th March to Saturday 4th April, the week-long campaign brought together individuals, families, businesses, and community groups from across the town, all united in a shared commitment to improving the cleanliness and appearance of Stowmarket.
A major highlight of the week was the Team Up to Clean Up event at the Recreation Ground, which saw an incredible turnout of over 100 volunteers working together to make a visible difference. Participants of all ages joined in, from young children dressed as police officers, to older residents and local families, creating a fantastic sense of community spirit throughout the day.
The event was also strongly supported by local businesses, community organisations, Suffolk Police and Town Councillors, showcasing the collective pride residents have in their town. While the focus remained on tackling litter and improving public spaces, the event also provided a fun and educational opportunity for young people to learn about the importance of caring for the environment.
Throughout the week, community-led litter picks took place across Stowmarket, with many groups and residents making use of the Town Council’s Clean Up Hubs at Milton House. These hubs once again proved invaluable, supplying volunteers with litter pickers, bags, and high-visibility jackets to support their efforts in neighbourhoods across the town.
Emma Rogers, Community Operations Lead, who coordinated the week, said:

Initiatives like Keep Stowmarket Tidy Week show what’s possible when our community comes together – and we’re proud to be part of that.”
Across the week, the Town Council’s social media channels shared photos and regular updates, celebrating the achievements of volunteers and highlighting the difference their efforts have made.
Keep Stowmarket Tidy Week also helped raise awareness of the ongoing work of the Town Rangers, whose year-round efforts ensure Stowmarket remains a clean and welcoming place for all. These efforts continue to be strengthened through initiatives such as the Community Champions programme, encouraging residents to stay involved and take pride in their local environment.
Once again, Stowmarket has shown what can be achieved when a community comes together, with this year’s campaign leaving a lasting positive impact on the town.
