Picture of Anglian water's water saving kits on a green backgroundAfter the success of our #SustainabilitySaturday Christmas series, we wanted to continue sharing advice about how to lead a more eco-friendly lifestyle in 2021. We’re introducing #EcoFriendlyFriday, weekly posts that will contain tips, tricks and info on what you can do to help the environment.

For our first post we want to tell you about the free water saving home and garden kits Anglian Water offer to their customers. These two packs contain items to help you and your family reduce water usage and save money. What could be better? They also have some handy ideas about how else you can cut down water usage, such as by taking their #ShowerChallenge or planting more drought resistant plants.

The home kit contains:

  • A waterproof shower timer. Did you know that a 10-minute shower will use on average 80 litres of water!
  • Water efficient tap inserts to half the amount of water some modern mixer taps use.
  • A “save-a-flush” bag which will save a litre of water every time you flush the toilet.
  • Gardening swell crystals which store water your plants can use as and when they need, to reduce the amount of watering you have to do.

The garden kit contains:

  • A water stick to show you how wet or dry your plant’s soil is.
  • Water retaining mats which will save water for your potted plants and release it when needed.
  • Lavender seeds to sow in your home or garden.
  • Swell crystals to store water in the soil for your indoor or outdoor plants.
  • A water saving leaflet with some handy tips.
  • A RHS produced drought resistant plant guide.
