Crisp packets are one of the main piece of rubbish we suffer on our streets. But did you know you can actually recycle your crisp packets?!
TerraCycle offers free recycling programmes funded by brands, manufacturers, and retailers around the world to help people collect and recycle hard-to-recycle waste. Walkers offers a free crisp packet recycling scheme, which accepts all brands. They have more than 1,600 public drop-off locations in the UK, with one at Stowmarket’s very own Red Gables. In fact, there is a public drop-off location within 4 miles of 80% of UK households.
The crisp recycling scheme at Red Gables accepts clean, flattened crisp packets. Once collected, the crisp packets are separated by plastic type, cleaned, and extruded into plastic pellets and sold to manufacturing companies to make new recycled products such as garden furniture, park benches and play equipment.
To recycle your crisp packets take them to Red Gables on the first Sunday of the month, 2pm-4pm. For 2021 drop off dates go to the Red Gables Facebook page.
