Councillor Barry Salmon

I am married to Heather and we have lived in the town most of our married life. We have two adult children and two grandchildren. I am now retired having worked in the agriculture industry finishing work on a large arable farm.

I enjoy walking, gardening and bowls, which I play to a good, bad and indifferent standard on the same end.

I am an active member of the Meadlands Men’s Shed and enjoy doing community projects with its members. The Pickerel Project also takes up some of my time and whilst I do not enjoy picking up other people’s rubbish I am pleased the group makes a big difference to the environment of the river and path along its banks.

I was brought up and went to school in the town so I have seen it grow from a small town of 7000 residents to its 20000 plus residents now. I know we have some problems as most towns of our size do but I enjoy living here and like playing my small part in Stowmarket.
