The Stowmarket Environment Forum brings together local councillors, residents and community groups who share an environmental interest. The Forum meets three times per year and its key roles are:
- Coordination: Ensure that there is a degree of coordination and communication between parties involved in environmental projects (whilst recognising that each group or body may have different objectives and priorities).
- Public Participation: Provide a forum where members of the local community can present and explain their environmental projects and proposals.
- Funding: Identify potential sources of funding for environmental activities, projects and initiatives.
- Local Action: Ensure that Stowmarket is playing its part in protecting environment matters in accordance with the need to “think global and act local”.
- Community Involvement: Identify how and where the local community can get involved in activities that seek to safeguard the environment.
